Rod Hicks is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne. He was the inaugural Director of Cancer Imaging at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and is an internationally-recognized pioneer in oncological PET and therapeutic nuclear medicine. He has recently founded companies that perform research and development into the emerging field of theranostics and installed a total-body PET/CT at the Melbourne Theranostic Innovation Centre in 2023 with 15,000 scans performed since then. He received the 2019 International Cancer Imaging Society Gold Medal, 2021 Peter E. Valk Memorial Award for clinical PET, 2023 Saul Hertz Award for contributions to theranostics and an Order of Australia in 2023. He has over 50,000 lifetime citations, and H-index of over 110 from over 650 peer-reviewed papers.
